January 17/05 - The St. John's Pirates and COHO have reached an agreement
to form a long-term worldwide exclusive licensing and marketing partnership. The new agreement was approved by the Pirates
Board of Governors and COHO Board of Directors, and will serve as a cornerstone for the Pirates future apparel product
strategy.Under the new agreement, COHO will have the exclusive rights to supply and market all authentic apparel, including
team uniforms, practice gear, headwear and locker room apparel for the players and team personnel. The Company also will have
broad worldwide rights, to design, manufacture, market and sell replica jerseys, headwear, T-shirts, fleece and other apparel
products for all teams in all channels of distribution. To capitalize on the opportunities and new
demands of the agreement, COHO and the Pirates will create a Research and Design Center in St. John's dedicated
to developing innovative, high performance apparel products. The new Pirates/COHO Research and Design Center will serve as
a key resource for the development of the Pirates and other GCFHL authentic uniforms. “This agreement unites the
strength of the Pirates brand with the premier hockey focused equipment and apparel company, COHO,” said Josh Janes,
President, St. John's Pirates. “It provides both partners with the benefits of a long term, stable relationship and
the freedom to research and develop the highest performance sports products sold". “Our focus will be on delivering
the most innovative, exciting and highest performing apparel products to the Pirates growing avid and loyal fan base,”
said Pierre Lacroix,team General Manager. “This long-term pact will allow us to make significant investments in the
growth of our business. Today’s announcement makes our partnership the most fully integrated marketing and product
alliance in the world of professional sports.”

September 6/04 - The St. John’s
Pirates named Jacques Martin as
their new head coach Wednesday afternoon, replacing Marc Crawford who had been at the helm since the teams inception in the
GCFHL2. Crawford will revert to a position as assistant
coach. ``We're excited about the switch,'' Pirates general manager
Pierre Lacroix said at a news conference.Martin entered
the NHL as head coach of the St. Louis Blues in 1986-87 and 1987-88, leading the Blues to the Norris Division Championship
in his rookie season.``I can tell you right now, I will be taking the good
stuff from Marc’s books and combining that with my own agenda and we will be a better team playing good two way hockey.''
Martin said at the news conference. ``I'm quite familiar with the high expectations this organization has. I'm looking forward
to getting things going.''In 1998-99, Martin won the
Jack Adams Trophy as NHL Coach of the Year after guiding the club to a 103-point season and it’s first of two Northeast
Division championships. He was also been nominated for the Adams Trophy in 1996-97 and 2000-01.In February, Pirates general manager Pierre Lacroix said he was disappointed with the way the 2003-04
season ended but that Coach Crawford would not pay the price for the team's failure."I'm telling you Marc Crawford will be here and should be here for a long time, with the way he has worked this year,"
Lacroix told The Telegram."It's never crossed our mind that any of our coaches, including Marc, haven't done a great job ... and
we're very pleased about what he delivered to this organization. If someone wants to put the blame on the coach, that is not
the route we're going to take."The Pirates finished the 2003-04 season
last in the Northeast Division, ten points behind the Halifax Citadels, and ninth overall in the Brooks Conference. St. John’s defeated Goshen in the opening round of the relegation
playoffs before losing to Michigan in the final.
September 4/04 - The St. John's Pirates are sad to see 3 of its players turn to Europe to finish off their hockey careers. Tommy Salo has decided to return to Sweden and to play for Modo of the Swedish Elite League. Sami Kapanen has also
decided to shift to his homeland and return to Finland.
The club also had to announce that the deal between Jonas Hoglund and the Pirates were Hoglund was to finish last season in
Europe then comeback to the Pirates will not happen as he wishes to remain in Europe. The Pirates would like to wish these
3 players the best of luck in all their endevours.
